Attempted phone upgrade

What nonsense. I tried to upgrade my phone today from my disappointing AX390 to a slick Treo 755p. Turns out that the advertised price only applies to new contracts or contract renewals. That, and I’d need to upgrade my current $50/mo plan to a $80/mo data plan. Where the heck is all that money going? I’m pretty sure it costs a lot less than what they rake in to keep this network running. Heck, I’m paying more for voice than I do for internet. With all the free wifi around the world, I wonder if I could get a skype phone and just do away with a cellphone.
