Counterize II

Counterize II is an incredibly cool wordpress plugin. Stop reading this and… Wait, no not yet! Come back! First install the plugin and then stop reading this. Back when I started wm161.net, I had nary an idea what I should blog about. One thought that sorta stuck with me was one of E2’s mantras: Node what you know. So I did.

The first thing I blogged about would be Subnetting. From there I moved on to Dynamic DNS, my robosapien, and more recently, how to install linux on an XBox. I had no idea if anyone liked my stuff, because Analog didn’t really show me what was popular, and what brought people to my site. Not only that, but few people bothered leaving responses. I was browsing the wordpress plugins directory and happened to find Counterize II. “Heh. I love stats.” I said to myself. I waited for a reply and was quite happy to not recieve one. After installing it, I was immersed in all mannerisms of neat toys in the management page. It showed things at a glance such as today’s visitors, this week’s visitors, total page views, etc.

Further on down the page you will find one of the most handier features: most visited pages.

Of course, its got other ’standard’ features like user agents and last 50 visitors. I find that the coolest feature is Most Searched Keywords. Thats what I like about this plugin. It tells me how people are getting to my site from google and other search engines. It gives me an idea of what kind of people my readers are.
